Show minimum and maximum design profile elevation points

Using this method you can show minimum and maximum design profile elevation points
in Autodesk Civil 3D.

1. Choose Home and set Settings from the Toolspace panel,
2. Next choose the Curve from the Profile and the Label Style,
3. Add a new label and set some meaningful description e.g. ‘Min and Max Elevation’,

 

4.Go to Layout and Delete all the components from the Component Name list,

5. Add a new Line for a new label,

 

6. Change the General Name to e.g. ‘Line Min’ and set the Start point anchor to the Anchor Curve Low Point,

 

7. Change the Line Length to e.g. ‘40’ and the Line Angle to 90.000 (d),

 

8. Add a new Text component for the label description,

 

9. Change this Component name to ‘Text Min’ and set the Anchor Component to the Line Min.
Next set the Anchor Point to the End Value and finally change the Text Attachment to the Middle
Right
Value,


 

10. Select Text Contents and Delete the ‘Label Text’ and write ‘STA: ‘ for a new station description,
11. Select Properties and choose the Low Point Station description,

12. Write ‘ELEV: m’ for the elevation description and select the Low Point Elevation description from the Properties list,

 

13. You will get the description for the Sag Curve lowest point elevation label,

 

14. Add a new Line component and name it ‘Line Max’ and set the Start point anchor to the Anchor Curve High Point. Change the Line Length to e.g. ‘40’ and the Line Angle to 90.000 (d),

 

15. Add a new Text component and name it ‘ Text Max’ and set the Anchor Component to the Line Max. Next set the Anchor Point to the End Value and finally change the Text Attachment to the Middle Right Value,



16. Select the High Point Station description from the Properties list,

 

17. Write ‘ELEV: m’ for the elevation description and select the High Point Elevation description from the Properties list,

 

18. You will get the description for the Crest Curve highest point elevation label,

 

19. To use this label select the designed profile with the Sag Curve and choose Edit Profile Labels,
20. Next set Type to the Sag Curves and select the label ‘Min and Max elevation’ form the Sag Curve Label Style and click the Add>> button,

 

 

21. If you also want to add the label for the Crest Curve description choose the Crest Curve form the Type list and select the same label ‘Min and Max elevation’,

 

22. You will get the both descriptions for the Maximum Crest Curve elevation and for the Minimum Sag Curve elevation. The second description is especially useful because you can get the precise location for the water manhole.
